Double Wow

Hang in there with me.  I am quite aware of the break in character.

When I look at a photo like this, there’s a ton of memories that come flooding back.  I think I was about 16 here and a dapper son-of-a-bitch…with hair.

Well tonight I reconnected with someone I never thought I would ever speak to again.  This person holds a special place with me and taught me more in a couple of years than most have in the last 25.  I have never forgotten and tonight I heard her voice again which took me right back…to a very good time.  I learned how much people matter to each other, how they help each to grow long after they’re gone, how moments that seem so simple at the time latch on, hitch a ride and effect you for the rest of your life in some small way.

I am thankful for those moments.  Oh yeah…and Carol King…I am very thankful for Carol King!

Cross that One Out

St. Louis is always a great time.  The last time I raced there was the Gateway Cup which ended up an absolute train wreck.  After heading out there once again to enjoy a wonderful Thanksgiving with family and killing the first bird Thursday, I headed to a cyclocross race on Sunday…bird #2.  Well I wiped out and after hopping to my feet to jump back in, I realized I had no handlebars.

On to Indy for the OVCX finals.

Tupperware? I Think Not

MCF is the best.  I came back from a cyclocross race to find my sister’s house looking like the jewelry department at Dillard’s.  I guess she was doing someone a favor by hosting one of those partys where everyone is guilted into puchasing shit they’ll probably never wear.  She was funny.  I could hear her in the other room and really did a great job entertaining them.  Not really sure how many ladies were in the living room because I snuck in from the basement with the bike then crept up to the kitchen to raid the Thanksgiving leftovers.  At one point she came and asked me to be a part of the whole thing as it would “bump up the number of attendees”.  They got all fired up when a new item was pulled out.   A lot of “ahhhh” and “oooooo” responses…and I had to believe mcf was thinking, “okay…let’s wrap it up.”  I snuck this shot from the kitchen.
